Fires continue to rage in the Los Angeles area. Several thousand residents have had to be evacuated in recent hours. The flames have already destroyed more than a hundred houses.
A whirlwind of fire and smoke ravages everything in its path. The Mountain Fire in northwest Los Angeles continues to burn homes one after the other. All day, firefighters tried to stop the progression of the flames, to no avail. Only 5% of the fire is contained at this time. The local residents were unable to do anything in the face of the gigantic blaze: “I took the garden hose and poured water on my hair because it was starting to burn,” says a victim of the fire.
In the neighborhood in the morning, a resident discovers with amazement the ruins of his house. Throughout the night, the flames advanced and consumed more than 8,000 hectares of land. Currently, 3,500 homes are still threatened. The fire line is visible from hillside areas of Los Angeles. The fire is fueled by severe drought and gusty winds from Santa Ana.
