Cédric Chaillot retried on appeal for the murder of the Maximus

Cédric Chaillot39, appeared again before the jurors and judges of the Assize Court for the murder of Daniel Duville, who died on July 26, 2019 in front of the former Maximus nightclub, in Lamentin. He is also being prosecuted for violence and possession of weapons.

Alongside him, Dany-Claude L., 31, is accused of “evading a criminal from arrest or search”. He appeared free.

Cédric Chaillot, detained since 2019, appealed his conviction. On the evening of the events, the main accused opened fire in the parking lot of the nightclub, injuring two men, one of whom was fatal.

4 days of hearing

Under police escort in the dock, Cédric Chaillot is on trial in a state of recidivism of violence with use or threat of a weapon resulting in death.

At first instance, while handing down a sentence of 20 years of criminal imprisonment, the Assize Court reclassified the facts as manslaughter. The jurors had ruled out the intention to kill, for Cédric Chaillot.

They handed down a sentence of 18 months in prison against Dany-Claude L for acts of concealment from criminals. The latter is accused of having driven the motorcycle from which the main suspect opened fire in the direction of Daniel Duville.

This Tuesday afternoon, the psychologist expert and the personality investigator are interviewed. The trial is scheduled for four days, with a verdict expected this Friday, November 8.
