Toulouse residents will pay less for their water bills. From today, the price of water goes into winter mode with a 30% reduction. In place since June 2024, seasonal water pricing now applies throughout the year, in order to preserve the water of the Garonne. The price of water decreases for seven months, from November to May, and increases by 42% during the five summer months, a period when the resource is scarcer.
For Philippe Guillon, his consumption decreased by 25 m³ over the summer months, a saving of 111 euros for the Toulouse retiree. Since the implementation of this system, water consumption in the city “fell by 526,000 m³”, welcomes Robert Médina, vice-president of Toulouse Métropole. This quantity represents the equivalent of the consumption of a town of 10,000 inhabitants.
