Prices of apartments in existing buildings in France (excluding Mayotte) in the 3rd quarter of 2024 fell by 0.1% compared to the previous quarter, according to the Notaries-Insee indices published at 8:45 a.m. Over one year, the prices of apartments in old buildings decreased by 3.9% (data adjusted for seasonal variations).
In the previous quarter, prices of old apartments were down 0.3% over 3 months and down 5% over one year.
What you need to know about this indicator: price indices for old housing are calculated each quarter using an INSEE method in collaboration with notaries. It is based on models making it possible to estimate the price of a good based on its characteristics. Data on sales of old housing and their characteristics (surface area, number of rooms, type of rooms, etc.) are provided by notaries based on transactions carried out during the quarter. The Notaries-Insee indices take into account the type of property (house or apartment) and the geographical area. They are then aggregated to obtain an indicator at the national level.
