“Un jour en France” looks at the national news of the last 24 hours. On the program for Friday October 18: the indictment of the motorist suspected of having killed a cyclist, the death of a baby in the sinking of a migrant boat, and the anger which is rising again among farmers.

The motorist suspected of having run over and killed a 27-year-old cyclist on the evening of Tuesday October 15 in was indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention on Friday. If convicted of murder, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

Off the beaches of Wissant (Pas-de-), a four-month-old baby lost his life while he was on board a boat with his parents and around sixty other migrants. They were shipwrecked on Thursday evening, less than two kilometers from the coast. The occupants of the boat were rescued safe and sound. Only the baby, found unconscious in the water, could not be saved.

Nearly 200 farmers came to demonstrate in front of the regional council in (Côte-d’Or) to demand European aid promised two years ago. Near (Ille-et-Vilaine), dairy farmers carried out a raid on a Lactalis site. They denounce the group’s decision to stop collecting 450 million liters of milk.
