Seine-et-: an ambulance driver attempts suicide using a gas bottle – LINFO.re

The events occurred on Thursday October 17 on the road between Nandy and Savigny-le-Temple (Seine-et-). A 40-year-old man attempted to end his life in a stolen ambulance.

A crazy race

A 40 year old man attempted suicideThursday October 17. Around 1:35 p.m., he stole an ambulance from the company where he works in Savigny-le-Temple (Seine-et-Marne). He subsequently placed a gas bottle on the passenger seat before starting.
His colleagues quickly alerted the police and a patrol from the accident squad spotted the car. The police ordered him to stop, but the paramedic refused to comply. A chase thus began on the D50 road and the forty-year-old broke two forest path barriers to enter the Sénart woods.

Two police officers pulled him out of the car

The paramedic turned around and crashed into another car. The police thought they could finally arrest him, but he drove off again and hit a police vehicle, says The Parisian. He ended up in a ditch.
The police noticed that the man opened the gas bottle before trying to light a lighter. With coolness and heroic courage, two officers broke the windows and attempted to extricate the driver. The latter however struggled, but the police managed to get him out of the vehicle.

Automatically hospitalized

The man made incoherent comments typical of a depressed and suicidal person. He was placed in remote custody at the hospital. A psychiatrist subsequently pronounced the total abolition of his discernment. Thus, he was automatically hospitalized, leading to the end of his police custody. The case will not take legal action.
As for the police officers, one of them was injured on the right hand and the other on the forehead. However, the worst was avoided.
