Beerschot a few minutes from its first victory of the season, Westerlo does not confirm its success at Standard – All football

Westerlo and Beerschot shared at the opening of the tenth day (2-2). No second victory in a row for Timmy Simons’ men.

As is often the case in recent seasons, Standard revived a team in difficulty last weekend. After having gleaned his first victory in six matches in Sclessin, Westerlo in turn revived Beerschot, where the crisis was brewing more and more.

Withdrawn, the Bears were determined to redeem themselves after the slap received in Antwerp. Dirk Kuyt’s troops even created a surprise by opening the score in the 25th minute via Tom Reyners.

Unable to put Nick Shinton in difficulty in the first act, Westerlo had to wait for the restart to prove dangerous. The Campinois had to rely on a set piece concluded by Luka Vušković to equalize on the hour mark.

Westerlo a eu chaud

As the home side pushed to take the lead, Beerschot struck ten minutes from time, when Kuipje least expected it. Iconic Antwerp player, Ryan Sanusi took advantage of the passivity of the Westerlo defense to create the 1-2.

But the advance of Beerschot will have been very short-lived. Almost immediately, Westerlo came back to the level thanks to his hero of the evening. Author of a double, Vušković secured the split point, still in a set point. Not bad for a 17-year-old central defender who has just arrived.

In a very tight ranking, the point collected by Westerlo is provisionally synonymous with fourth place despite everything (three teams are one point behind). For its part, Beerschot showed the resources to move on after the disastrous derby against Antwerp but remains dead last and is still waiting for its first victory.
