Damn, Michel… What did you do to us…

“Fuck, Michel… What did you do to us…”reacted on Instagram Gérard Jugnot, his accomplice from the Splendid comedy troupe, summarizing the astonishment and emotion of the public at the announcement of this death. This Friday morning, the French actor also paid tribute to him during an interview with our colleagues at RTL Paris.

“Michel my friend, my brother, my partner”wrote on the same social network Josiane Balasko, also a member of the troupe that brought them to fame.

“This morning, the pain is immense, commensurate with his talent (…). Cinema, the world of culture and all French people will not forget him,” said the Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, on the social network X.

Michel Blanc was one of the members of the famous Splendid troupe alongside Gérard Jugnot, Christian Clavier, Thierry Lhermitte, Josiane Balasko, Marie-Anne Chazel and Bruno Moynot.

A popular actor since the success of “Bronzés”, Michel Blanc has alternated laughter and emotion by exploring the human soul in front of and behind the camera. After the enormous public success of “Marche à l’ombre” (1984), his first film as a director, he broadened his range by disappearing as the first of the Splendid gang, notably with the transgressive “Tenue de evening” (1986) by Bertrand Blier. He plays the moving Antoine, who becomes infatuated with Gérard Depardieu and cross-dresses. The role, crowned with the Best Actor Prize at , marks a turning point in his career.

In the dramatic register, Michel Blanc also portrayed the disturbing “Monsieur Hire” (1989), according to Simenon, or a homosexual doctor at the beginning of AIDS in “Les Témoins” (2007) by André Téchiné.

After the missed appointment of the third opus of “Bronzés” in 2006, the actor, nominated four times for the César for best actor, won the precious statuette in 2012 for his unexpected second role as chief of staff in the political thriller “L ‘Exercise of the State’.

Watch the last interview with Michel Blanc in Belgium. The actor was invited on RTL info with Jean-Pierre Améris to present their film “Marie-Line and her judge”.
