After several rounds of hearings, journalist Cheikh Yérim Seck was placed in police custody this Tuesday due to accusations of defamation and dissemination of false information.
This decision follows a summons issued by the Special Cybercrime Division, notified earlier today. According to information provided by his colleague Madiambal Diagne, the journalist was to appear at 3 p.m. The exact reasons for this legal procedure remain unclear at the moment. Nevertheless, authorities launched an investigation to examine the accusations against him.

Cheikh Yérim Seck is notably accused of having disseminated controversial information during his recent media interventions, where he frequently addressed the new Senegalese authorities and sometimes made statements considered to be revelations, based on his own investigations.
