Last night, his son Khaled Mouloudj succumbed to his injuries after being shot at around 10 p.m. on Hérisson Avenue, near Highway 25, in the Anjou borough. It was barely a few minutes walk from his parents’ house, where he lived.

Authorities say the victim was on the sidewalk when a vehicle approached. Shots were fired from the car, hitting the young man in the upper body.

When they arrived at the scene, police officers from the Montreal City Police Department found the victim on the ground, unconscious.

She was rushed to hospital, where she succumbed to her serious injuries during the night, said an SPVM spokeswoman.

As for the suspect, he fled after the crime and has still not been found.

SPVM major crime investigators were on the scene at the start of the night to try to understand the circumstances surrounding this sixth homicide to occur on Montreal soil since the beginning of the year.

A large security perimeter was erected around the scene of the attempted murder to protect potential evidence.

A dog handler was also requested on site to participate in the search for clues.

Although he described his son as a good young man, Mr. Mouloudj quickly withdrew when questioned about the motives that could explain this attack on his child, and about armed violence in Montreal.

According to our information, Khaled Mouloudj was well known to the police despite his young age. He had a criminal record in matters of domestic violence.

In addition, friends of his wife, who had come to offer their sympathy to the family earlier in the morning, were more talkative.

“We live with this fear every day. We have children the same age as his son, commented a colleague of the mother of the deceased who did not want to identify himself. We fear for their safety. The government must act. There have to be concrete things to protect young people. We are against violence and the use of weapons. We don’t feel safe here anymore.”

“The government, instead of focusing on women who wear the veil, should focus on the safety of young people, education and the health system,” continued the lady, who also wore the veil. .

“She is feeling bad [sa mère]. She immigrated for a better quality of life and she is losing a child,” added another colleague and friend.
