The wait is endless. Since Saturday, the family of little Emile has been living in the expectation and the hope of seeing progress in the investigation opened for “search for causes of worrying disappearance”. Despite the exceptional device deployed on the ground, the little boy is nowhere to be found.
“No traces or clues“have not allowed investigators to try to understand how Emile could have disappeared. The child has been missing since the end of the afternoon, this Saturday, July 8. That day, he was seen for the last time, to leave the house of his maternal grandparents, in Haut-Vernet, a hamlet of 25 inhabitants clinging to the Trois Evêchés massif, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
It’s the first day of summer vacation for the toddler. In the house, there is also his mother, the eldest of a family of ten children, and several of her brothers and sisters, AFP said. Here is what we know about this family, which has remained very discreet since Saturday.
A discreet family, “very traditional Catholic”
Originally from La Bouilladisse, a town in Bouches-du-Rhône at the foot of Garlaban, Emile’s family has been vacationing in Haut-Vernet for around twenty years, village mayor François Balique told AFP. . The boy’s maternal grandparents have a second home there.
The grandfather, an osteopath based in La Bouilladisse, the family cradle, had ten children, including Marie, Emile’s mother, all schooled at home, as indicated by a source in Var-Matin. “Marie, Emile’s mother, is a girl from the village, confirmed a local personality to our columns, this Tuesday. His name is known. His grandmother was one of our teachers. His father (…) is an osteo here. He wanted to be a priest before falling in love”.
With a grandfather who considered the priesthood, the family is very religious “very traditional Catholic, the type to go to mass in Latin in Marseille”. The very discreet kind to “live a little in autarky”.
Emile’s parents have been living as a couple at La Bouilladisse for about a year, after their studies in Marseille. Emile’s father had been a candidate in the regional elections of 2021, for Bouches-du-Rhône on the “Zou!” list, “the list that will get rid of the system”led by Valérie Laupiès, former National Rally.
