PHUKET: A foreigner died yesterday in an accident in Karon after a scooter collided with a pickup truck on a bend in the coastal road between Karon and Patong.
The accident was reported to the Phuket Volunteer Rescue Team shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday June 24, Russian-language news outlet Novosti Phuketa reported.
According to the Kusoldharm Foundation’s rescue unit in Patong, a Honda motorcycle driven by a stranger crashed into an Isuzu pickup.
Photos from the scene show the pickup’s front bumper damaged in the collision. The front of the motorcycle is also damaged, but the rear license plate was also bent.
The driver of the motorcycle died instantly. He was driving in shorts and without a t-shirt.
“Please always drive carefully for your own safety and for the safety of other drivers. We extend our condolences to the family of the victim.” wrote Kusoldharm Patong staff.
“Helmets save lives, speed kills.” added the Phuket Volunteer Rescue Team.
