Sir Bhinod Bacha did not survive his injuries. Hit by a car this Saturday morning, June 17, in Quatre-Bornes, the Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office died at 7:10 p.m. in the intensive care unit of Victoria Hospital.
Sir Bhinod Bacha had a long career where he served the country at various levels for more than 40 years. Former head of the Civil Service, having worked with several Prime Ministers, including SSR, SAJ Navin Ramgoolam and Pravind Jugnauth, Sir Bhinod Bacha evolved in the den of power.
Having worked at the Hôtel du Gouvernement, from 1969 to 2014, he served Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, Sir Anerood Jugnauth and all the others who succeeded him, directly or indirectly. Still assigned to the Prime Minister’s Office, he served Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam from 1969 to 1982, and Sir Anerood Jugnauth from 1983 to 1994.
Head of the Civil Service, he served as an adviser in several ministries, including that of Housing and Lands. From 2009 to December 2014, he was attached to the PMO alongside Navin Ramgoolam.
Finally in December 2014, after a few weeks of vacation, he resumed his career as a consultant and adviser. He had been, since 2017, attached to the Prime Minister’s Office as a Senior Advisor and was in the close guard of Pravind Jugnauth.
80-year-old Sir Bhinod Bacha was in a parking lot in Quatre-Bornes when the accident occurred.
The police have opened an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding this accident.
