In the interview he gave us on the eve of the Lexus pipe pro (January 27 – February 8) which marks the launch of season CT, Marco Mignot (24) assures that he is in Hawaii to go the most Far possible and aims to end the season in the top 10.
How do you feel on the eve of the launch of the season?
I had a little stress, a little doubt but I worked on it saying that I just wanted to enjoy that moment.

Do you imagine that I am advised by a guy who won the pipe twice? It’s amazing. He gave me so much advice, on the spot but also on the CT. Jérémy knows how to express and transmit his knowledge perfectly. There is a whole team behind me. There is Jérémy but also my coach Jason Aparicio. And also all those who are in France and who help me succeed.
What is your ambition at Pipeline?
I am not leaving on a competition to lose! I’m going to go series by series and we’ll see how far I can go. In any case, I am not here to just make a result. I come to win. In pipeline, the waves are large and powerful. I want to show myself. People only know me in the small waves. I want to surf and demonstrate that I have the level in the big one too.
What about the Tour?
This year will be a learning season. I will grow a lot. I want to be “Rookie of the Year” (best hope of the year) and finish in the top 10.
You are the only Frenchman in the Gentlemen table. Can others join you?
I hope that my qualification, at my age (24), will open doors and that I will be joined by other French surfers. You have to believe in yourself. You have to give everything and know what you want.
