Shawn Michaels was on hand during WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2025 to oversee the contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens, ahead of their ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
During this segment, Shawn Michaels took it for granted, especially when he said that Kevin Owens seemed jealous of Cody Rhodes. In response, Owens claimed that Michaels, like Rhodes, had a tendency to leave when things got tough. He added that, unlike Michaels, he brings something extra to the belt he wears.
Once the exchanges were over and the contract was signed, Shawn Michaels wanted to shake hands with Kevin Owens, who refused and preferred to hit Cody Rhodes. Michaels put himself between the two wrestlers but Owens wanted to piledrive him! Fortunately, the WWE Champion returned in time to place a Superkick on his future opponent, before Shawn Michaels followed up with his Sweet Chin Music:
