Israeli hostages released “in stable condition”, Netanyahu hails a “very happy moment”

The four Israeli soldiers released on Saturday after more than 15 months of captivity in Gaza are in “stable condition”, the hospital where they were admitted near Tel Aviv announced on Sunday, after initial medical examinations.

“I am happy to say that their health condition is stable,” Dr. Lena Koren Feldman, deputy director of the Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikvah, told reporters. “As one might expect, (their) long captivity in trying conditions is visible,” she noted, however.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed as a “very happy moment” the return to Israel of four female soldiers captured by Hamas on October 7, 2023, after their release in exchange for some 200 Palestinian prisoners.

“This is a very happy moment that we have been waiting for for a long time,” Mr. Netanyahu said by telephone to the parents of one of the four young women, Liri Albag, according to a statement from his office.
