Westerlo shakes Genk at the end of the match but bows and remains in the red zone – All football

KVC Westerlo hoped to come back at the very end of the match, but lost (1-2) against Genk. The Campinois remain on a terrible series.

Eight games without a victory: it’s starting to get heavy for Timmy Simons and his men. KVC Westerlo lost this Saturday at home against the leader, Racing Genk, who led by two goals at the break thanks to goals from El Ouahdi and Arokodare.

Westerlo had started the match the best, but on their first opportunity (and a big defensive hesitation), Zakaria El Ouahdi took advantage of a cross from the left to coldly open the scoring (17th, 0-1).

About ten minutes later, it’s Three Arokodares who played his defender and deceived, with a strange shot, the new Westerlo goalkeeper Andreas Jungdal, who could probably do better for the moment (0-2, 30th).

At the very start of the second half, Genk missed the opportunity to kill the game but Tolu missed. With the entries, at the break, of Sakamoto and newcomer Islam Slimani, Westerlo tried everything for everything and created a few chances.

While Jarne Steuckers had just hit the post, it was Westerlo who ended up making it 1-2: Isa Sakamoto made up for a big miss (or rather a superb save from El Ouahdi on the line) shortly before and reduced the score to the 87th. Insufficient to save the Campinois from a new defeat, which leaves them in the red zone.
