A fireplace could have been going wrong in Saint-Urbain if it was not the intervention of a neighboring family, who saw flames escaping from the duct, closed a stove left open and alerted on 911.
The event took place around 11:30 am on rue Sainte-Anne. A young boy returning from school with his big sister sees flames escaping from the fireplace of a house. They bring the event to their mother, who asks her daughter to call 911 and leaves to alert the occupants of the house.
The mother, who prefers to keep anonymity, notes that the house is unoccupied. Faced with the emergency of the situation, she decides to return and realizes that the combustion stove was open. She immediately closes it, then emerging alert an employee of the city passing in front of the house.
-When the firefighters arrived shortly after, there were no more flames at the exit of the fireplace and no damage was noted in the residence. According to the chief firefighter of Saint-Urbain, Cédric Soundigny, the fire could have extended without the intervention of the neighbors.
