On September 8, 2022, the Nice-Cologne match, in the Europa League, slipped in the stands. Hooligans from the Cologne club attack Nice supporters. There were more than 8,000 Germans in the Ray stand. The Nice club had, however, taken precautions by installing them in this part of the stadium.
Incidents break out, police officers intervene and are even injured. A particularity that evening: PSG “supporters” had slipped into the heart of the German kop, with a view to doing battle with the Nice. An RATP bus driver, ultra supporter of PSG, who took part in the fights, was also sentenced in Nice in January 2023 to one year in prison, including six months, for “using a rocket or fireworks, Projectile throwing and violence in meetings.
Another pseudo-supporter appeared this Thursday before the Nice criminal court. “Appear” is a big word, because the Parisian went not the English way, but the Thai way. He conveniently emigrated to Thailand, not responding to any of the summons. His criminal record reflects a violent history, particularly in stadiums.
-He was sentenced, in his absence, to eighteen months in prison and banned from attending a sports venue for five years. An arrest warrant was issued against him by the court chaired by Alain Chemama.
In the days following the match, German police made five arrests and carried out a series of searches. In total, the homes of 16 suspects, including three repeat offenders, were searched. Five of them, subject to arrest warrants, were arrested. The 16 suspects were registered in the file of violent supporters. 15 are ultra supporters, according to German police.
