The longest day. This is what the crews of the Monte-Carlo rally experienced this Thursday between a departure given at the beginning of the afternoon from Monaco, the interminable connection to the Gap service park (nearly 320 km of connection) and the three night stages in incredible fervor. In conditions that were still tricky, most of the drivers tried not to take many risks, whether in the choice of tires or on the road.

In the end, a trio emerged from this triptych and stood in less than fifteen seconds. Very efficient at the wheel of his Toyota, Haut-Alpin Sébastien Ogier took the lead by winning the first two timed events of the day. But he almost lost everything in the last one, passing very close to the road exit in a slide.
This error benefited Thierry Neuville. The Belgian, cautious over the first kilometers, managed his race to come in first ahead of Elfyn Evans and Ogier. The two other Hyundais of Frenchman Adrien Fourmaux and Estonian Ott Tanäk remain in ambush but at a good distance from the trio.
-This Friday, the serious things begin with six special stages on the program north of the Hautes-Alpes prefecture, where snow should appear on certain sections.
