The gendarmerie launched a search after the worrying disappearance of two young people this Wednesday. Their death is believed to be of criminal origin.
A macabre discovery. The bodies of two young people aged 20 were found this Thursday, January 23 in the town of Saint-Martin-aux-Chartrains, in Calvados, Le Figaro learned from the Caen public prosecutor’s office.
Missing, Maëva Gazé and Martin Delamare were the subject of searches launched by the national gendarmerie on Wednesday. According to France 3 Normandy the couple’s car was found in the evening, parked in a parking lot near a departmental road. The young woman’s bag was in the back of the vehicle while the doors were closed, reports Ouest France. The couple’s dog, wandering near the parking lot, was taken to a veterinarian, which allowed the identification of the two young people.
A death of “criminal origin”
“The first findings made on the two victims make it possible to establish that their death was of criminal origin, one of the bodies presenting significant wounds to the face and the other presenting traces likely to correspond to bullet impacts,” specifies a press release from the prosecution.
-At present, “the circumstances in which these two young people were killed and the reasons why they were killed are not known and no hypothesis is excluded,” continues the prosecution. Both bodies will undergo an autopsy in the coming days. A judicial investigation was opened against X on the charge of murder and entrusted to the Caen judicial court. “The investigations are now continuing under the direction of an investigating judge” concluded the prosecution.
