An incident took place on the factory site Socova, located on route d’Eyguières and specialized in pipe production, of steel tubes, this Thursday, January 23 at Address. The accidental payment of an emulsion composed of 3% oil and 97% water in a settling basinbefore the external canal, then in the Roubine along Chemin Donné, caused a certain stir. “200 liters of this product were spilled by accident. As soon as we became aware of this incident, production was stopped until further notice”indicated the Directorate of Italian Steelworksowner of the factory.
The mayor Philippe Ginoux a immediately organized a crisis meeting with site management as well as the gendarmerie, firefighters and theFrench Biodiversity Office. He indicates, via a press release on Facebook, that “all the contaminated water has been pumped out”. As a precautionary measure, he asks local residents not to drink tap water. A judicial investigation has been opened.
