Devils: Markstrom injured in game against Bruins

Jacob Markstrom suffered a lower-body injury during the New Jersey Devils’ clash with the Boston Bruins at the Prudential Center on Wednesday.

The Devils goaltender was injured at 3:09 of the second period when he made contact with Bruins forward Justin Brazeau. The latter’s fall pushed Markstrom into the back of his net, and his left leg seemed to get stuck between Brazeau and the post.

After the game, coach Sheldon Keefe simply said that his number one goalie was “going to be sidelined for a while.”

Jake Allen replaced Markstrom against the Bruins and was perfect on 16 shots in New Jersey’s eventual 5-1 victory.

Markstrom is 21-9-5 with three shutouts, a 2.20 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in 36 games this season, his first with the Devils.
