The core business of Philomathics lies in professional training, particularly for people undergoing retraining (120 per year). It prepares its learners for National Education diplomas in the woodworking, fashion and furniture professions. To go even further, the structure is now developing a support program for business creation (project structuring, technical and logistical support, communication, etc.). “It is essential not to release our learners into the wild, we must give them the keys and the means to succeed” adds the president. Regularly recognized for the quality of its learning, Philomathique recently welcomed the success of one of its learners who won the ethical fashion triathlon. “This award symbolizes recognition of our investment in the fashion of tomorrow: responsible and innovative fashion, in line with today’s major environmental and social issues.” Workshops to get started In parallel with its training center, the Philomathique offers around fifty introductory workshops to discover arts and crafts professions. Open to all, they are run by working professionals, passionate about their profession and the desire to pass it on, and bring together nearly 600 people per year. “Through our workshops, we participate in our own way in the social and environmental transition by highlighting responsible practices and techniques oriented around the reuse of materials, the revaluation of materials and the reduction of waste” explains Pascal Decombis.
