The crash of a tourist plane left two dead on Tuesday January 21 in Méribel (Savoie). A witness to the accident claims to have seen the aircraft hit two paragliders before collapsing onto a chalet. No casualties were reported apart from the two passengers.
Since the crash, the carcass of the passenger plane, a single engine, remains embedded in the roof of a chalet in Méribel (Savoie). According to the owners, the house was inhabited at the time of the accident, but the occupants were able to escape at the last minute. The plane crashed late in the afternoon, Tuesday January 21, with two men on board. Aged 26 and 58, the passengers did not survive.
“We heard a big boom outside, people were screaming”testifies a neighbor on video. Previously, the aircraft had struck paragliders who managed to trigger their emergency parachute and crash-land, but safely, in trees. “When he hit them, he fell straight down.”remembers a witness of the scene, recounting having seen the plane fall “in seconds”. Help arrived quickly on site, but a kerosene leak and the instability of the roof complicated operations.
