“The guys have been incredibly supportive.”
“Falling just five kilometers into the stage was far from ideal, and overall it was a tough day”said Welsford on arrival. “The three breakaway riders were caught quite early, and from there the race became very nervous. I was at the limit on the last climb, but the guys didn’t leave me behind, and together, We held on. There were constant attacks at the front, and I could only hope that we would have a chance to catch them on the way down.”
“In the end, I am happy that I was able to achieve victory for the team”he continues. “The guys supported me incredibly, especially in the preparation for the sprint. They remained patient and waited for the right moment. We knew the finish would be long and difficult with the wind, and although we were perhaps – being in the lead a little early, the guys executed our plan perfectly Tomorrow is shaping up to be a milestone for the climbers, and I look forward to supporting the team as best I can.”
