After two years of an upward trend, the price of gas on the world stage has begun to decline slightly, despite a geopolitical situation which remains unstable.
In the forecasts put forward by the supplier of Industrial Services to the City of Morges, this trend results in a drop in prices during the year 2025.
In view of these forecasts, Industrial Services is applying from January 1, 2025 a 3% reduction in the price of natural gas/biogas for small and medium-sized consumers.
Replenishment of the fluctuation fund
In Morges, the increases in recent years have been mitigated thanks to the use of the gas price fluctuation fund. This heavily requested fund helped Industrial Services contain the rise in gas prices. The increase was thus limited to 8% for small and medium users in 2024. Without this mechanism, the increase for subscribers in 2024 would have reached 16%.
-The 2025 budget provides for an allocation of 300,000 francs to the gas price fluctuation fund in order to replenish it.
Subscribers will be informed of this price change by a communication included in the 2024 settlement invoice, sent in January 2025.
