It’s been several days since the agreement between the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks fell through for JT Miller and the veteran forward is still a member of the Canucks at present.
Miller reportedly has his preferences as to where he would like to end up and reports circulating speak of a destination on the east coast.
New York makes a lot of sense and it’s still possible he could be traded there, but now another team has entered the negotiations and is even believed to be in the lead to acquire him.
The Hurricanes would now be at the height of the race and would even have a lead over the Rangers since the aborted transaction.
We remind you that the Rangers and the Canucks were unable to agree on the protection details surrounding the first round pick heading to Vancouver.
Cam Strickland reports the same as Dhaliwal and Drance. The trade with the Rangers fell through due to conditions surrounding the first-round pick.
He then mentions…
-“From what I’ve heard, he’s destined to go to Carolina.”
For his part, Elliotte Friedman who is particularly well informed reports similar information:
I think Carolina is in the thick of it, I think the Rangers are still around, they’re not out. I’m less convinced about New Jersey, I’m less convinced about Dallas… I think the Canucks are operating under the impression that this is the Eastern United States.
– Elliotte Friedman
A hot issue which should materialize very soon.
