Measures allowing workers to take one day off without a medical certificate would once again be abandoned by the new federal government. This is according to the updated super-note from trainer Bart De Wever.
Key information
- The measure allowing employees of large companies to take one day off three times a year without a medical certificate will be abandoned again by the new federal government.
- This rule was introduced to reduce pressure on GPs, but it has led to an increase in absences in large companies.
Trainer Bart De Wever (N-VA) presented his updated socio-economic super-note to the presidents of the MR, Les Engagés, Vooruit and cd&v parties on Friday. We do not yet know much about the content of this note, but we already know that it aroused the discontent of the negotiators.
Medical certificate
RTBF has already disclosed a measurement of this famous supernote. Thus, medical certificates would again always be obligatory in the event of absence from work.
-Just three years ago, the government introduced a measure whereby a medical certificate was not always obligatory. More specifically, this concerned employees of companies with at least 50 employees. These employees could be absent up to three days per year without requiring a medical certificate. This measure aimed to reduce pressure on general practitioners.
A study Securex carried out a few months ago showed that these measures are widely used. In fact, employees of large companies are more likely to be absent one day.
