Alexander Zverev advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Tuesday, beating Tommy Paul 7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1.

Zverev has the distinction of having won the first two sets while Paul served each time to win the set.

This is his thirtieth victory at the Australian Open, and becomes the most successful German player of the Open era, overtaking Boris Becker who was at 29.
