In Seix, the fire in the bakery aroused great emotion, particularly after the fire which affected a building near the laboratory, only a year and a half ago.
“A climate of sadness” took hold of Seix, in Ariège, after the devastating fire in the laboratory of the Le Pétrin Gourmand bakery this Sunday, January 19. A real shock for the inhabitants of the village, very attached to their business. “It’s a difficult time for them, but also for the entire town,” says the town’s mayor, Hélène Nirascou.
Especially since this sad event comes only a year and a half after the violent fire in a building in the city center, just a few meters from the laboratory. Fortunately, that day, the laboratory employees, hard at work, had awakened the sleeping inhabitants to save them from the flames, thus avoiding a tragedy. Deeply saddened by this new fire, the mayor lets her grief shine through: “I wouldn’t say that fate is getting worse, but… These events are particularly painful.”

“It warms my heart”
As Luc Munoz, the manager of the bakery, observed, the Sexois showed real support for his business. “I even have to refuse their help, because I cannot take the risk of someone getting hurt. Above all, the fire did not spread thanks to the intervention of two village firefighters who intervened then that they were not on duty.” A decisive act which undoubtedly limited the extent of the fire.
