MADE A (source) — An incredible run of four goals in the space of eight minutes midway through the first half propelled Villarreal to a crushing 4-0 victory over Mallorca in La Liga on Monday.
Logan Costa opened the scoring for the home team with a header from a corner in the 19th minute of the match.
With Álex Baena in fine form, Villarreal punished the visitors with a dazzling display of counter-attacking football.
Baena scored the second goal in the 23rd minute, orchestrating a move he initiated himself before providing an assist to Dani Parejo for the third goal just two minutes later.
Yeremy Pino put the game out of Mallorca’s reach in the 27th minute with a half-volley from Sergi Cardona’s cross from the left wing.
With the match effectively decided, the second half was not very lively.
-Villarreal secured a victory that keeps them in fifth place with 33 points, narrowing the gap with FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao to six points.
