Jean and Huan, two friends who are supporters of Stade Brestois, decided to cycle 600 kilometers to attend the next match of their favorite team in the Champions League, reported Monday January 20 “ici Breizh Izel” (ex- Bleu). On Wednesday, Brest faces the Ukrainians Shaktar Donetsk in Germany.

This is the penultimate match of the group stages of the Champions League and Brest travels to Gelsenkirchen, near Düsseldorf. The two friends, Jean and Huan, decided several months ago to travel to the Ruhr in the north-east of Germany from by bike. They have nearly 600 kilometers to travel in the bitter cold of January and are due to arrive at their destination Tuesday evening after five days on the road.

It was a post published last March on social networks that started it all: “If Stade Brestois ends up in the European Cup, what will you commit to doing?” Immediate response from Jean Simon: “Take a trip to Europe by bike”. This Brest fan, a member of the club for 15 years, brought one of his Parisian friends, Huan Cupillard, into his passion. Both are fans of sporting challenges. All that remained was to choose the destination. “Barcelona was far away, we had to cross the Pyrenees, Prague was even further away. So we chose Gelsenkirchen”they explain.

Jean and Huan are part of the solidarity action launched by the Ultras Brestois 90: a prize pool for the association “A dream, a smile”. They will return to France on Thursday, with their bike, but by train this time.
