“We’re going to shoot you”, “we know where you live”, “You stop all research immediately or we will kill you” : Xavier Roca, opposition municipal councilor in Pezilla-la-Rivière, near Perpignan, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, received an anonymous letter last week, containing death threats. A complaint was filed with the gendarmerie, reported Monday January 20 “ici Roussillon” (ex-France Bleu).
-The municipal elected official said he experienced a “great shock” when he discovered the contents of an anonymous letter posted in his mailbox. “It is difficult to remain indifferent to such violent words. My first thought was for my family”he confides.
The envelope contained a letter typed on a computer consisting of five pages and brutal words clearly targeting his action as an elected opposition official. “In recent months, I have taken numerous positions on sensitive subjectsconfides Xavier Roca. In particular, I made a report to the public prosecutor on irregularities in public procurement, which triggered the opening of a preliminary investigation. But from there to receiving death threats…”the chosen one is surprised.
This is not the first time that Xavier Roca has received such threats. Last summer, another anonymous letter reached him. But this time, he decided to file a complaint with the Millas gendarmerie. An investigation has been opened. Despite the shock, the chosen one refuses to “give in to fear”. After filing the complaint, he posted the entire letter on social media.
