The Genêts d’Or announce the official opening of inclusive housing in the area of rue Choquet de Lindu (Saint-Michel and Sanquer districts), in Brest. Keys will be handed over gradually in the last days of January 2025. Seven individual social housing units, spread across several buildings, intended for people with disabilities, are allocated by Brest Métropole Habitat and will be supplemented by an activity room, located rue Villaret de Joyeuse (it is not yet operational), where some of the activities coordinated by a facilitator, an employee of the Genêts d’Or, will take place.
Everyone has their own accommodation but shared activities
“Inclusive housing allows elderly people or people with disabilities to live in their own homes, independently, benefiting from collective actions to strengthen social bonds and called “shared living assistance”, which Les Genêts d’Or are responsible for hosting,” explains the association. This project, supported by the Finistère Departmental Council, is part of the national plan for inclusive housing defined by the Elan law.
Individual interviews with interested people to assess the feasibility of their integration into the inclusive housing system, collective meetings with the selected people to build group coherence and ensure the desire to share activities together… Upstream work is important for the success of the project.
