The president-elect, Donald Trump and its elected vice-president, JD Vanceunveiled their new presidential and vice presidential portraits last week and, well, they couldn’t be more different.
Daniel Torokthe president-elect’s chief photographer, revealed the portraits on X. “We are entering the GOLDEN AGE OF AMERICA,” Torok wrote. His feed quickly filled with amusing comments comparing and contrasting Trump and Vance, with the former seen as a mob boss and the latter as a blue-eyed boy scout.
“They are going strong,” the Trump transition team wrote in a one-sentence press release about the official portraits. There was no explanation as to who or what was tough, although we assumed it was the two men in the portrait.
Obviously, Trump’s behavior, with his eyes narrowed, seeking the defiant gaze of a mafia boss, is not far removed from the passport photo that went around the world when he was incarcerated at the Fulton County Penitentiary for attempting to steal the 2020 US presidential election. He was clearly furious. But now? Five years later, when he is the leader of the free world, what annoys him so much?

There is a method behind his wickedness
Besides evoking a tough, almost frightening, masculine energy in his 2025 presidential portrait, we now know that the 2020 mug shot served a higher cause: It helped raise money for the election campaign of 2024 as part of a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFT).
The menacing face finally found its way into the recent launch of Trump’s latest NFT collection, “Trump’s Bitcoin Digital Trading Cards», on the network Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC).
-CollectTrumpCardsthe official NFT account of the President of the United States as of January 20 on X, announced that buyers of 100 “ID Photo Edition” NFTs can claim them on Magic Eden by submitting their Bitcoin wallet.
There is therefore money to be made on the parts, as evidenced by the Saturday launch of the same corner TRUMP (CRYPTO: TRUMP), which immediately soared to $5.6 billion in just 24 hours.
And then there’s JD Vance, whose sparkling blue eyes and engaging smile recall a boy scout leader in small-town Ohio, who’s successful and couldn’t be happier.
Things have changed a lot since Gilbert Stuart painted the portrait of George Washington in 1797.
