A Valaisan wins a gold medal at the International Competition

A Valaisan produces one of the best Gamay, according to the jury of the 15th international Gamay competition. This competition was held last Saturday in Lyon.

The winner from Valais is winegrower Kevin Berclaz, from the Delta cellar in Venthône. He presented his Gamay 2023 in front of 150 professional and amateur wine jurors.

In all, 228 medals, including 92 gold, were awarded to winegrowers from 4 countries: Switzerland, France, Italy and Canada. Only 5 Swiss walked away with the first prize – including Kévin Berclaz.

For this Venthônois, director of the Delta cellar, it is a great pride to be able to stand out with a basic wine, that is to say affordable, as opposed to exceptional wines like Syrah.
