Inauguration day began with a religious service at St. John’s Church, nicknamed “the church of presidents,” explains Politico. It is to be followed by tea at the White House, shared by the Trump and Biden couples.

The 47th President of the United States and his Vice-President JD Vance must then take the oath of office at midday (around 6 p.m. in ). Due to the severe cold in the American capital, the ceremony will exceptionally take place inside the Capitol. Then Donald Trump will deliver his inauguration speech. Outgoing President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, vice president and unsuccessful presidential candidate in November, will then say goodbye.

Donald Trump will then go to the Presidential Room of the Capitol, where he will sign his first appointments and perhaps issue executive orders, says Politico. A tradition that has only existed since 1981: it was initiated by Ronald Reagan.

The traditional parade will follow on the immense esplanade of the Washington Mall, with nearly 7,500 participants announced, including military, university and even equestrian groups, before the arrival of the new president at the White House.
