Emmanuel Macron is going to Cesson-Sévigné, near Rennes, this Monday, January 20, to present his wishes to the armies. He chose to do so from the cyber defense center in Cesson-Sévigné. He will visit the Digital and Cyber Land Support Command (CATNC), installed since 2024 on the historic site of the former transmission school.
A symbolic choice, because Rennes is a major player in cyber defense in France. The Breton metropolis plays a key role in the protection of army information systems and the development of sovereign artificial intelligence.
-With the creation of the CATNC and other specialized units, the Cesson-Sévigné site has become a strategic center for digital forces. These developments illustrate the growing importance of cyber in modern conflicts, as demonstrated by the war in Ukraine.

The Élysée underlines that Emmanuel Macron’s arrival in Cesson-Sévigné is part of a dynamic of innovation, highlighting the challenges of cyber and artificial intelligence. This move reinforces the strategic role of Rennes as a stronghold of digital defense in France.
This historic site, formerly dedicated to the Army Electronics School, houses the Digital and Cyber Land Support Command (CATNC), the Digital and Cyber Support Brigade, as well as the School of digital and cyber transmissions, responsible for training future military experts.
In November 2024, Clara Chappaz, then Secretary of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs, inaugurated the Cyberplace, the first building certified by the Breizh Cyber Alliance. Located near the Digital and Cyber Land Support Command (CATNC), this site meets secret-defense standards and is fully integrated into the Rennes ecosystem dedicated to cybersecurity, bringing together major players such as Thales, Capgemini and Orange .
