Anderlecht traveled to Kortrijk this Sunday. The Mauves finally won 0-2.

Anderlecht had to deal with a tricky trip this Sunday. The Mauves thus went to Kortrijk, the current 15th in our championship. Widely favored, the people of Brussels wanted to ride on the victory against Antwerp in the Croky Cup to distance the Union and get closer to the two leaders of our competition.

The start of the match was frankly timid, on both sides. In fact, we had to wait until the end of the first quarter of an hour to see a first real strike, from De Neve. In the 26th minute, Ambrose even had the opportunity to open the scoring, but the Kortrijk player ultimately missed the mark.

Anderlecht’s response fell just before the break, when Maamar curled his shot, propelling the ball onto the left post of the KV goalkeeper. Not very dangerous, Anderlecht were still the closest to the goal at the end of the first act.

Hazard as a savior

The second half didn’t really start any better for either team. Opportunities remained very rare, with teams scrambling in the last 25 meters. But things had to end up getting out of hand.

Back in the eleven after 9 months of absence, Thorgan Hazard opened the scoring in the 62nd minute with a nice free kick. Two minutes later, Silva received a second yellow card in a few seconds, leaving the Courtraisians at 10 against 11.

Huerta, who was making his debut with Sporting, doubled the lead in added time. He couldn’t dream of a better first with the Brussels club. In the standings, Anderlecht is third with 36 points before the Union’s duel against OHL.
