1B – YOUTH Visiting the La Louvière field, contender for the climb ranked in second position, the RSCA Futures had to recover after missing their last two outings of 2024. The task was therefore not easy but the kids trained by Jelle Coen were despite this, he managed to force a draw. Dominated and trailing at the break, they had a very good second half to come back and force a 2-2 draw.

Deprived of Lapage, Maamar and Goto, retained with the first team, as well as the experienced Dom, Jelle Coen had to reshape his team again to reach the field of the 2nd of the D1b. The coach took the opportunity to relaunch Wola in the center of defense in a hybrid system which varied between a defensive axis with 3 elements and 2 when Engwanda provided his support in the center of the field. Faced with an opponent who was pressing high, the pattern was at times quite simple by trying to take the opposing defense behind his back.

It was the absence of Lapage which was the most damaging because without his size and his heading, the young purples suffered in set phases. Of the two transfers made to help the team maintain, only Kanate was at kick-off as a left winger.

The match had barely started when the referee already had to interrupt it because of the fireworks lit by La Louvière supporters who wanted to mark the occasion for their 20th anniversary. This did not disturb the young mauves who scored a goal a few minutes after the restart of the game. On a high recovery from Moutha-Sebatoui, the latter shifted Kanate who crossed towards Robberechts to deceive the goalkeeper with a recovery of stolen.

The Wolves’ reaction was not long in coming as they managed to equalize a few minutes later through Guindo. The striker trained at Neerpede especially took advantage of Wola’s nonchalance on an outstretched cross to find the path to goal. This equalizer started the match for the locals who dominated the first act and could have taken the lead four times.

After a quarter of an hour, Schlieck had a superb reflex on Liongola’s header from a corner. Shortly after the half hour mark, the ball returned fortunately on a confused phase in the rectangle into the feet of Guindo who struck just wide. Shortly after, Schlieck punches a shot from a Louviérois on a new corner. Just before the break, Belkheir, in an offside position, cannoned on the board from a difficult position.

More determined in the duels and often first on the ball after returning from the locker room, the young purples took the start of the second half into their own hands. They even almost equalized directly by Robberechts who put the goalkeeper on duty on a cross from Ure. On the next restart, Robberechts made a good press at the feet of the defense to recover the ball and cross back for Ure who tried twice before deceiving the goalkeeper (2-2).

The rest was still to the advantage of Coen’s players who deserved to take the advantage. On a shifted free kick, Engwanda extended towards Ure who hit the post. Following a nice collective movement, Ure then shifted to the Kanaté side who crossed his shot too much. There was also a quick movement which allowed Robberechts to be launched on the right flank to shoot at the goalkeeper.

Schlieck, for his part, was only involved twice in set-piece situations. In the 65th minute, he blocked a header from a corner and, in the 75th minute, the ball came back lucky again with a free kick at the feet of Guindo who cannoned over.

At the end of the match, the Futures could still have left with the 3 points of victory but Ure did not take advantage of a slip from a defender and Tajaouart, well placed on his left foot, did not know how to frame his recovery.

On a slippery terrain which did not facilitate fast play, the RSCA Futures took a good point on the ground of a title contender. It was especially the second half that allowed the team to achieve this small feat. After defeating a candidate for promotion to D1A in the derby, Jelle Coen’s players hooked up with the other big caliber in the division.
