Pokémon video games could well be playable on Nintendo Switch

Just a few days ago, Nintendo finally broke its deafening silence. After weeks of rumors and other increasingly credible leaks concerning the Nintendo Switch 2they finally published a video of a few minutes presenting their new hybrid console. Scheduled for 2025, we don’t know much more than its design at the moment, but many players are already wondering if they should think about jumping on the Nintendo Switch 2 to be able to enjoy the next games as quickly as possible or No. Concerning the next stamped games Pokémonthe journalist Jeff Grubb has good reason to believe thatthey will be playable on the current Nintendo Switch.

In a podcast broadcast a few days ago, the journalist Jeff Grubb indeed talks about the next Pokémon games which should be revealed in a future Pokémon Presents. If he doesn’t name them, we imagine that they should at least be Pokémon Legends ZAor even the 10th generation for the most optimistic. According to his information (which has not been made official by Nintendo or the Pokémon Company), all games featured in the upcoming Pokémon Presents were developed for the first Nintendo Switch. If they will be playable on Nintendo Switch 2, they will therefore be just as playable on the current console.

Poisoned good news?

The fact that the next Pokémon games will still be playable on the first Nintendo Switch, or even that they will be developed directly on this console, can be seen as good news and bad news. As with the arrival of each new console, many players may not be able to spend hundreds of euros to improve their equipment. Guaranteeing that a game continues to be released on the previous console therefore allows as many players as possible to be able to enjoy the new games. But if you’ve played Pokémon Legends: Arceus or even Pokémon Scarlet and Purple, you know that the games in this license could well benefit from the power of a new console.

Indeed, even if they were both very good for several different reasons and in particular for the way in which they managed to transpose Pokémon into an open world, the last two games in this license hurt the eyes as their graphics were not up to par with the current generation. Worse still, some might even say that they could have been released on the equivalent of a PS3 without exaggerating too much. Among all of Nintendo’s iconic licenses that would benefit from the power of a new console, Pokémon is very high on the list. We hope that Pokémon Legends ZA and any other games that may soon be presented will still look better than the previous ones, even on the current Nintendo Switch.
