Returning to the field at the beginning of January, he scored in a friendly against Heracles (1-0), before playing a few minutes against Mainz six days later. Today, his coach Dieter Hecking chose to start him against Leipzig, and he did quite well. Trailing 3-0 in the first period, Bochum then got back on track thanks to its Dutch striker, who scored a hat-trick in the space of 13 minutes (48th, 57th, 61st).
