World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, defending champion, qualified for the round of 16 of the Australian Open on Saturday. This thanks to his victory in three sets against the American Marcos Giron (46th).

The Italian, winner for the 4th time in as many duels against his opponent, won 6-3 6-4 6-2 and joined his rivals Alexander Zverev (2nd), Carlos Alcaraz (3rd) and Novak Djokovic ( 7th) among the last sixteen players competing.
