A major rescue intervention and specialized teams is underway south of on the A10 motorway, this Saturday January 18. Traffic is cut off for around ten kilometers after a refrigerated truck caught fire. Diversions are in place.

The road to Spain is cut off. Early in the night, this Saturday January 18 around 1:50 a.m., a heavy goods vehicle caught fire on the A10 motorway, at kilometer point 219, a short distance from the south of the conurbation of Tours. Although the two drivers were unhurt, the fire has since had significant repercussions on traffic.

The intervention of the firefighters thus required the closure of three out of four lanes in the - direction. 33 firefighters were deployed on site, controlling the flames using two pump trucks equipped with hoses. Traffic was then completely interrupted, in particular to allow the cleaning and evacuation of the remains of the refrigerated truck, which was transporting food products.

For motorists coming from Paris, Orléans or Tours, it is obligatory to leave the A10 at exit 24 (Joué-lès-Tours). Likewise, it is forbidden to join the highway at the same place. The diversion involves following the D910 towards the south, before catching up with the A10 around ten kilometers further, exit 24.1 near Sorigny. Google Maps traffic data indicates that, as a result, a major traffic jam has formed at Montbazon.

The cut section of the A10 also includes the interchange with the A85. For users of the A10 wishing to join the A85 from Tours, same thing, compulsory exit at Joué-lès-Tours. For users of the A85 wanting to take the A10 towards Bordeaux, exit 9 (Azay-le-Rideau) is recommended from , and exit 10 (Chambray-lès-Tours) from .
