After having experienced a great adventure with Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton will now drive a Ferrari. The British driver, who has just celebrated his 40th birthday, proved in 2024 that he was still capable of competing with the best. His arrival is excellent news for the Italian team in the eyes of Rob Smedley, a former Scuderia engineer.
By managing to achieve two new victories in Formula 1, Lewis Hamilton proved that he still had it under his belt even at his age. The British driver does not want to end his career straight away and he will continue to compete in a big team. Moreover, we strongly believe in its association with Charles Leclerc in the clan Ferrari.
-Hamilton at Ferrari, the bomb
Seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton wrote some of the most beautiful pages in the history of Formula 1. The Briton has just finished his adventure with Mercedes which had lasted since 2013. By signing with Ferrari, he offered himself a new start at the age of 40, news which appealed to many enthusiasts. “I'm a big fan of Lewis. I love him, I love what he does for the sport and what he does outside of the sport. I am very happy that he is going to Ferrari. I think it's a good thing. It's weird for all of us when a driver of this caliber changes teams, after having had so much success with another team. But we get over it quickly. It's good for sports. There is no negative point, no inconvenience” reacts Rob Smedleya former engineer from Ferrarifor the podcast Red Flags.
Hamilton future world champion at Ferrari?
Despite his two victories in Formula 1 in 2024, Lewis Hamilton still ranks seventh in the drivers' standings since the season was quite competitive. But Rob Smedley still believes in a record eighth title: “If he can win his eighth championship as a Ferrari driver, it’s a fairy tale. Lewis will take the team to the next level to make it a more complete team”.
