Inspired by David Lynch’s 1990s films, in particular “Wild at Heart” (1990), Catherine Holstein imagined a spring-summer 2016 collection referencing the director’s dreamscapes but also his characters and their looks. The python print, referencing the jacket worn by Nicolas Cage, was one of the collection’s key elements, placed on pumped-up leather bombers, pencil skirts and long peasant dresses.

Designer Jun Takahashi paid homage to David Lynch’s twisty drama series “Twin Peaks” through his fall-winter 2024 collection. Titled “Wonderful and Strange”, it takes its name from a quote from Agent Dale Cooper: “I have no idea where this will take us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place that is both wonderful and strange. » There are blazers, bombers and pants printed with portraits of characters from the series, but also long trench coats imitating those worn by Cooper.

In his works, David Lynch liked to use certain recurring symbols like the owl, red curtains, motifs like fire or electricity. For his fall-winter 2017 collection, Massimo Giorgetti integrated these elements – seen notably in “Twin Peaks” – via pine trees, owls embroidered in sequins or even zig-zag chevron prints like that of the floor of the “Black Lodge” .

Titled “Blue Witch,” Rei Kawakubo’s spring-summer 2016 collection for Comme des Garçons was a nod to David Lynch’s film “Blue Velvet.” On the catwalk, the Japanese designer’s silhouettes with exaggerated and exuberant volumes – including a blue velvet dress – paraded to the rhythm of the music of the cult work, instantly transporting the guests into a purely Lynchian atmosphere.
