Ofer Kalderon, 54 ans

Ofer Kalderon, a 54-year-old French-Israeli, was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz along with Erez and Sahar, his son and daughter aged 12 and 16 respectively at the time. The two teenagers were released on November 27, 2023 during the first truce.

Ofer was also naturalized Portuguese in October 2023, shortly after his kidnapping, to facilitate negotiations for his release according to the Lusitanian press.

The father is a carpenter and does mountain biking at a professional level, according to the Hostage Families Forum. He has already spent two birthdays in captivity, his 53rd and 54th.

French actress and director Agnès Jaoui announced in November 2023 in Le Parisien that she was related to the Kalderon family.

Ohad Yahalomi, 50 ans

Ohad Yahalomi, who turned 50 in captivity, was kidnapped from his home on Kibbutz Nir Oz. His son Eitan (12 years old), released on November 27, 2023 during the first truce, was kidnapped separately.

His wife Bat-Sheva said the whole family tried to take refuge in the mamad, the secure room of their house. But the door did not close, so Ohad had stationed himself in front with a pistol. He was injured in an exchange of fire and kidnapped.

Taken separately, Bat-Sheva and her three children tried to escape their captor, but only Eitan’s mother and two sisters succeeded.

Ohad was announced dead in January 2024 in a video released by a Hamas-allied group, information that had never been confirmed by the Israeli army.
