On the occasion of the NBA Paris Games, which will take place on January 23 and 25 at the Accor Arena, PSG and the San Antonio Spurs announce a collaboration. As part of this partnership, Victor Wembanyama and his teammates will travel to the Parc des Princes for the Champions League clash against Manchester City.
The San Antonio Spurs are preparing to settle down in the capital. And they’re not just here to play basketball. While in France for a week for the NBA Paris Games, Thursday January 23 and Saturday January 25 against the Indiana Pacers, Victor Wembanyama’s franchise announced this Friday a collaboration with PSG.
In a press release, Spurs look forward to “a series of events with Paris Saint-Germain”. According to the Texan franchise, five times NBA champion (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2013 and 2014), this week in the capital marks “the beginning of a deeper relationship” with PSG.
As part of this collaboration, Spurs will be present at the Parc des Princes for the Champions League match between PSG and Manchester City (Wednesday January 22 at 9 p.m.), a meeting during which Luis Enrique’s men will play a game of their European future. A native of Chesnay, in Yvelines, Wembanyama is a big fan of PSG and has already come to see Kylian Mbappé play in the past. For example, he was present at the Parc des Princes for the Classic against OM in October 2022 (1-0 victory for Paris).

-A collection of limited edition products
The arrival of Spurs in the capital is also the opportunity to launch a limited edition collection of products resulting from the collaboration between the basketball franchise and the Ligue 1 club. This collection will be available exclusively from January 21 to 26 in the store of PSG on the Champs-Élysées.
Spurs and PSG are also joining forces within the framework of the Spurs community Leadership Institute, “a program focused on the promotion of women in sport”. “This effort reflects the shared commitment of Spurs and PSG to belonging and social impact,” details the Spurs press release.
Finally, more broadly, “PSG and Spurs leaders will dedicate time to mutual learning on topics such as community impact, brand development, fan engagement and innovation sports”.
Since the first edition, in 2020, the interest in these relocated matches goes beyond purely sporting considerations. The meetings are only the showcase, even a pretext for the entire NBA eco-system to meet its partners. “The impact and interest of these meetings in Paris is above all the platform that is set up for a week,” Julien Lepron, basketball expert at the Sport Business Observatory, told us before the NBA Paris Game 2023. “When you look at the program of the week, the match is the entry point. But above all it is a platform which is produced in Europe throughout the week.”
