The best German skicrosser Florian Wilmsmann suffered a setback. The overall World Cup leader failed at the second World Cup in Reiteralm due to a fall in the semi-finals. In the end, he narrowly missed the podium in fourth place. Daniela Maier suffered the same fate.
In addition to Florian Wilmsmann, Cornel Renn and Tobias Müller were also expected in the semi-finals, but no DSV driver reached the final. It was especially the two Germans who put themselves out of the race. Wilmsmann and Müller got caught in their skis and fell.
The Germans therefore only had a small final. Wilmsmann won massively. But it has nothing to do with the podium. Frenchman Youri Duplessis Kergomard won the World Cup ahead of Italian Simone Deromedis and Canadian Kevin Drury.
-Tobias Müller finished seventh, Cornel Renn fell in the small final and finished eighth.
Maier falls and loses his lead in the overall World Cup standings
Daniela Maier failed in the women’s semi-final. The Olympic bronze medalist from Beijing jumped too high and landed in the safety net. She got tangled there. The images initially made people fear the worst. She had already torn a cruciate ligament at the Reiteralm in 2021.
Maier initially remained enveloped in the safety net, but was able to get up on his own and head towards the finish. The 28-year-old qualified for the small final, where she finished third. In the end, she finished seventh and also fell behind India Sherret in second place overall.
The Canadian finally found herself in the lead and celebrated her second victory of the season. She won ahead of the Swiss Fanny Smith.
